Which DPGs Offer Continuing Education?

by

Renewing your Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics membership is a great opportunity to pick a dietetic practice group (DPG) or two to join. Some of the DPGs also include sub-units around a specific topic. Each DPG has varying costs and product offerings and it takes time to research each one. Did you know that many offer continuing education credits as well?

All of the DPGs are set up a little differently. The most common forms of continuing education are either CPEU articles (from a regular newsletter or a peer-reviewed publication) or webinars (live or pre-recorded). Dietitians in Nutrition Support and Renal Nutrition DPGs offer peer-reviewed publications with CPEUs.

A few DPGs also offer a conference or symposium. The Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness, Clinical Nutrition Management, and Dietetics in Health Care Communities DPGs all feature annual symposiums. The Oncology Nutrition DPG holds a conferences every other year.

Food and Culinary Professionals DPG has a unique CPE offering in its international trips. The trips take you to dream foodie locations (Italy!) and provide ~40 CPEUs each. They also offer domestic culinary workshops every other year.

Not everything requires a membership. However, often a membership will more than pay for itself if you want access to the free or reduced cost CPEU offerings.

So, before you renew, take a peek at what the DPGs offer!

PLEASE NOTE: All quoted descriptions come from the Academy’s website found HERE. This is a gathering of publicly available information. There is a distinct possibility that some DPGs offer much more than what is aggregated in this post.
